Impact Wrkshp
Impact Wrkshp hosts a 12 week Summer Fellowship which connects three inter-disciplinary design fellows with a K-12 school and provides them with the tools, training, and mentorship to bring a design project to life within the school community. We teach emerging designers how to reach out, give back, and use their training towards social good, and inspire students within K-12 schools to envision the built environment as a change agent of learning and empowerment. I joined Impact Wrkshp as Director of Brand Strategy in 2019.
Impact Wrkhp needed a strategy to scale that reflected its founding ethos. Guiding the business toward a more sustainable strategy meant more opportunities to engage the community and create more impactful change. I aided the organization through growth strategies, pro forma development, and fundraising.
In order to recruit fellows from prestigious graduate programs, Impact Wrkshp needed to develop an evolved brand identity that reflected its mission and design chops. Working closely with the founder to articulate the mission of Impact Wrkshp, I volunteered my time to reimagine the initiative’s identity and bring it to life on a platform the founder could easily update as the organization grew.
In light of our current health crisis, our Summer 2020 Impact Project challenged fellows to ask, "How might we deploy existing urban infrastructure to relieve personal health and safety stressors of being outside in a public space while also counteracting the negative effects of isolation?” In response, fellows proposed the design of a dynamic visual language for pedestrian spaces within the public realm. This language addresses the individual needs of spaces of movement, rest, and play, and seeks to use social distancing guidelines as instruments to bring people together, safely, rather than keep them apart.
